SHARA'S FAMILY DINNER

Yesterday it wasn’t as hot as days before because it was raining a little bit, but even then it was hot. Yesterday morning I stayed at home watching TV, reading and writing my blog, all these things in English obviously. Then when Diane came from her doctor appointment, I helped her to do the marinade for the meat that we would eat for dinner. After that we realized that we haven’t enough meat because we were 11 people to have dinner, so we decided to go to the supermarket. On our way we decided to stop in a bike shop to have Sandra’s bike repaired, and then we went to buy some ingredients that we needed for dinner. We cooked Mexican food so we bought tortillas, nachos, meat and beans…When we arrived home it was time to have lunch so we ate some pizza and a fruit salad, then as dessert vanilla ice cream. In the evening it was time to have a nap and to finish cooking. I made the dessert, Magic bars, They were so sweet that I didn’t like them, but everybody else did it so that means that they weren’t bad. At six our guests came to dinner, they were the family of Sarah, the girl who is going to come with us to Spain. We spent all dinner talking and laughing. It was amazing. The Mexican food was quite good, but I still prefer the Spanish one. After Sarah’s family went back to their home, some neighbors came and we had ice cream all together. I tried a new gelato of pistachio and caramel with salt-chocolate. They were delicious.  After this intense day, I went to bed because I was tired.

BURGERS DAY

Yesterday we went back to the hoopfest to watch the finals matches, it was again really hot so we didn't stay for a long time. We went to have lunch in a typical American restaurant, and I asked for a hamburger and an oreo milkshake. It was delicious but I finished really full, because it was so much food. The girl who is going to Spain with us works in that restaurant, so I met her and she seems to be really kind. After our meal, we went to Sandra's friend house again and we spent the afternoon in her pool, it was funny when we started diving, and we saw how many times and how far we could swim underwater.
At six we went to the supermarket to buy some food and shampoo that I needed. After doing all our shopping we returned home to have a shower and dinner. At the end we watched TV and I went to bed because I was exhausted.

HOOPFEST

In my first day in Spokane, I went to the hoopfest, a 3-on-3-basketball competition in the town center. It was interesting to see the amount of people that were participating and also all the families encouraging their teams. We spent all our day watching the matches under a terrible sun, because the temperature was over 100°F. It was really hot!!! We also went around to food stands and bought some sandwiches to eat and an ice cream. When all the matches finished we went to Sandra's friends swimming pool, where we spent all the afternoon talking, playing and swimming. It was fun. They explained to me how to play the colors game, it's really easy. A person is out of the water with the eyes closed and he has to say colors aloud, the rest of the people are in the pool and they have a color in mind. If the person outside says your color you have to swim to the opposite side is the pool avoiding being caught.
As we were a little bit hungry we cooked some macaroni and cheese and we ate them all together, then we went for a walk around the neighborhood, as it was less hot than in the morning.
Finally we had dinner and we went to sleep.

A thing that catches my eyes is that Americans do everything in the car. For example they return back the books without going out of the car, they also take the money out for the ATM inside the car. That’s so rare.

TRIP TO USA

In this blog I'm going to talk about my trip to the United States.
Friday was the first time I travelled to a country outside Europe, and I did it alone. That can sound a little bit scary but it was really easy going.
First of all, I will explain to you how I got here. My trip started at a University City in Spain, called Salamanca, where I usually live during the school year with my parents. That day we got up at two o'clock in the morning to get to the airport, or it will be better to say that we didn't sleep, because we thought that for sleep only a few hours it would be better not to do it at all. After driving for two hours we arrived to the Capital city of Spain, Madrid, where I had to take the plane. I checked my luggage, and completed some documentations and I was ready to board my first plane to Amsterdam. It was a short flight of 2 hours and a half. During it we had breakfast, a Sandwich of... I didn't really know what it had inside, some coffee and biscuits. When we arrived, half an hour late because the flight was delayed, a hostess went with me to a special room with wifi, food, sofas..., until the flight to Seattle was ready to board. At half past ten we got in. I thought that a 10 hour flight would be tiring and boring but it wasn't. I watched two films, the maze runner and avatar, I also slept a bit and we ate. We were given lots of different foods such as biscuits, chocolate, sandwiches... Immediately after I arrived I had to pass through customs and check my luggage again, that was quicker than I thought it would be. Finally, I boarded my last flight of the day to Spokane, the city where I'm going to stay for a month.
When I arrived, I took a shower and we had dinner while we watched a soccer game. After that my host family took me to a shop to buy some summer clothes.

Finally, after all that long day, I went to sleep.
